For dipping new things.I've saw were some say use freshwater. Then some say high salt content saltwater.Which works best? Also what all do you dip?
Lastnight before i went to bed.I was looking at the LR.My oldest sons starfish is missing.he was on a rock and blends in.So i think he'll reappear eventually.Anyway i saw this worm thing looked kinda like this pic.Except it didn't have it's feathers out? Then it went back in the hole and never came back out.I'm wondering if i should be worried

I would think that either would work, but I would say fresh would be more effective because of the "parasites" low tolerence to salinity changes (more cost effective).
The worm you are talking about is most likely a feather duster. Does it have a tube that it withdrew into? Usually they will pull in when they feel threatened (mine even do during my light going on and off) so this could be the case. Do you have a picture?

preferably high salt content, 1.03 or higher, because a lot of times inverts cannot live in fresh water, but will survive a high salt content.
you'll want to edit out that pic, as -- won't let you link there.

But I thought that the dip was to drive out the pesky hitch-hikers (a quick dip would not hurt any inverts I wouldnt think). A lot of people dip corals in freshwater with no ill effects and they are pretty intolerant to any changes in salinity or any parameters really.

the low salinity is more to kill off the unwanted pests, and also sometimes makes them go deeper in the rock to the salt water in there. lots of times they all die. the high salinity is to make them leave the rock so you can scoop them out and discard the unwanted ones.
