Sharker - there is a newer book on the mark... Sharks and Rays in the Home Aquarium. I think that is the title - someone help me here if I'm wrong. If you have not kept sharks before get this book and read it. It will give you the basic understanding that you will need to have any chance of keeping a shark alive for any amount of time.
Also, all the sizes of the sharks are covered in this book. It really would help you with making a decision on what one to get.

Okay on that shark... freycinet epaulette shark... I ran the question by my local guy who actually carries them and he had 1 in his shop.
They do only get about 18 inches, usually alittle smaller when kept in a tank. The problem he said is that you have to make sure you get the freycinet epaulette shark. When they are smaller they pretty much look alike.
So as long as you get the right one it will only get 18 inches...

I have one that is 24 inches. Sometimes males don't even reach maturity until they are over 20 inches. Might want to check into some new sources of info then just a book.

THe sharks body structure is the same but the coloration is different. The one's that I have seen are lighter in color so the spots stand out more.
THe one's that I've seen where only around 18 - 20 inches and around 4 - 5 years old. To be honest they don't look as good as the other spieces in my opinion.
