Frilly purple coral

The other day I bought some frags. Placing them in the tank I noticed that this guy seems to be turning lose of his rock. I have placed him in a low flow area of the tank to see if he will reattach. Is there anything else I should / could be doing?

I for one, would need a better ID than a " Frilly purple coral"

Here is a picture of it. Dont know the official name of the coral, sorry. If I understand correctly the only way may be to put a rubber band around it but I dont want to hurt the coral. Thanks.

Let me post a picture of another coral that I think this coral is in the same family just purple not green. The LFS guy called it a "frilly coral" so I dont have the genus.
Its not a ricordia for sure.

It has been so tight that I have not seen its mouth but if it indeed is the same as the green one then yes it does have a mouth at the center.

What about a Glaxia coral? Mine looks like that in the morning when the lights first turn on, and extends like the green picture you showed throughout the day.

Ok so now he had totally detached from the rock he was on. I am going to put a rubber band around him and the rock to see if he will attach again. Is there a better way to do this or is this pretty much it?

You could get a little cup, fill it with some small peices of LR rubble, and just let it sit in there (cup in tank). It'll attach, and then if you want it somewhere else you can superglue what it's attached to to something else. When I did the rubberband trick, I cut my mushroom in half. Both halves survived, but this was about four months ago and it dosn't look as pretty anymore.

Yeah I am worried about the cutting in half thing. I would like to find another solution. You say a cup. I guess a cup with sand in it for balance. Hmmmmm.
