frozen fish and squid

I feed my triggers a steady diet of krill, brine shrimp and flake. I have read that a healthy variety is important. Is it ok to feed them chopped fish filet, clams and squid from the supermarket as well? I know this sounds like a stupid question but I am going through 8-12 oz of krill a week.

There is no problem feeding your fish supermarket foods as long as you take precautions. Rinse the meats in fw and then freeze them. This will hopefully eliminate any possible bacterias on the food. Never feed your fish supermarket seafood without steralizing them first, that is just asking for trouble!

Wow, your soposed to rinse it first, I never knew that. We feed frozen squid to our snowflake eel and I have never rinsed it before freezing. I thaw it in hot tap water before I feed it to him though so maybe that is why I've never had a problem..Later Lisa

Would you suggest boiling first or is rinsing ok? Does that go for clams and shellfish as well?
