fuge foam

I've been playing around with different flowrates through my 18 gallon undertank refugium lately.
I've backed it down for the last couple of weeks - to see if it made a difference.
I keep a small powerhead in under the water surface, but with the slower flowrate .... the surface becomes somewhat stagnant.
Foamy bubbles and a greenish scum has formed - and at first I was somewhat concerned. It didn't look so good ya know.
Until this morning when I was doing some general maintenance.
Pods galore !
I've never seen so many different types of pods in my fuge before. I'm going to try and ID what types they are ... but in the meantime ..... has anyone else noticed anything like this before ??
Maybe I had too much flow running through the fuge ?
Maybe this is a way to increase their food source ?
Anyone care to comment ?

What do you think your flowrate is now?
I running at about 10 changes an hour and I have pods but not an abundance of them.
