I just run mine the same time as my actinics.... more for the reason my fans are on the same timer to keep the tank cool for when the halides kick on.
Some people turn on their fuge lights after their DT lights go off for a more balanced PH... I've heard pros and cons on that but I would think any 10-12 hour photo period on your macro is just fine.

I think its for a more balanced PH as well as having the lights on seperate times so less heat is being created. (especially for people with lights submerged in the water or close enough to the tank that it creates extra heat...... Even out the heat throught 24 hours, instead of 12 hours with everything on, 12 hours with everything off..

I have been running my dual 10w submersible fuge lights 24/7...no temp changes

is it ok to run them 24 hours, does that affect the chaeto badly in anyway?
