fuge overflow question ???

I have a refugium which flows via gravity back into my sump. I have a 1" piece of pvc flex pipe which handles the water. I have put a piece of stocking at the end of the pipe to catch any pieces of macro which may break loose and ultimately find their way into my display tank.
Is this necessary??
I know your gonna tell me no pods are getting back into the main system, but I don't want the macro to take hold on the LR in the display.
any thoughts???

Take a piece of polyfilter and attach it at the beginning of the pipe that runs from the refugium into your sump.

My fuge setup is also gravity feed back to my sump.I have NEVER had my macro algae infiltrate my display tank. My Manderin is doing well,so I assume that some pods find their way into the display tank, although I never see them.
