Fuzzy Rice looking stuff - id please

My live rock is starting to get fuzzy rice looking growth on it. I will try to attach a picture here. I don't know how to stop the flash so hope it is not useless photo.
Tank is 72 BF.
SG - 1.024
Calcium - 420
PH - 8.17
Amonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 10
I can't test for anything else (no kits). This is FOWLR.

PH 8.17!?!?!?!??!?!?!? it sohuld be like umm 8.1-8.3 they kinda look like sponges to me, not rice LOL!

I had a bunch of Q-Tip sponges growing on my live rock, until I put 2 cleaner shrimp and 1 peppermint, then there were none. I don't know who ate them but no more Q-Tips for the fish to clean out their ears.

I have a cleaner shrimp but he won't touch them. Any idea why they appeared this month? Tank is over a year old. Any idea on what I should test for? They appear harmless but not very attractive.

Their harmless, I thought they were kind of cute, I didn't have quite as many as you do, but like I said as soon as I put in those shrimp they were gone. As with any live rock, things just keep showing up. I found a new hitchiker on my LR in my reef that I need to research. LR is awesome, you never know what it going to come out of it or grow on it. :hilarious

like many things in this hobby you will get blooms that will come and go. Q-tip sponges like what you have there are harmless and will subside later on nothing to worry about thought.
