First of all, i like to say hello to everyone. My first thread

I set up my tank a week ago from today (5-2-05). It has 30lbs of aragonite sand and 25lbs of live rock. I dropped a raw, peeled shrimp in it like the boards says and its started to change to an orangy red color on the third day. Then its forming a cleary-white fuzzy outer coating on the shrimp. Looks like its getting thicker and thicker each day! I tested the water last night and the results are:
p.h.-8.2
temp.-82
ammonia-.5
nitrite-? havent tested yet, still trying to test ammonia
nitrate-? same
Is the shrimp suppose to go through?! Please help! :help:
Thanks in advance.

One could ponder the dawn of creation with the statement above. Your shrimp is rotting and decaying. Giving its nutrients back to where it once came. Think of him as the father of your eco-system and smile knowing that that little shrimp’s destiny was so much more than most cocktail shrimps could have ever hoped for. :D
let the cycle of life continue!

When its said and done he will be about the size of a golf ball "depending on the size you started with". All 3 of mine were up there in size. And believe me you better have a gasmask or some spray cause if you remove that oh man it is nasty!!!
