I just started in the hobby and so far I have seen already discovered a great gadget for mixing salt water... a hand mixer the type used for drinks or smoothies! It works great

How about listing your favorite gadgets to help make all our lives easier!

I made a similar gadget but apparently I mix more at a time than you. I had a 5" plastic fan blade on the end of a 2' nylon rod that I'd stick in my drill. Eventually I went with just dropping a powerhead in the bucket.

Not much of a gadget, but the turkey baster has all kinds of uses for the tank. Works great for blowing off detritus from your rock and corals, as well as using it to spotfeed fish and corals.

Turkey basters rule!!!! If you take a piece of rigid airline and melt one end with a flame, it will swell up a little and you can drop it down through the end of the baster. Pull it tight and it will stick when it cools. You'll have an extra long and accurate spot feeder.

Turkey basters get my vote as best overall gadget for a tank. I also like the extra long handled tooth brushes with a brush at each end with an angle to them, and normally sold with a tube of tooth paste for dogs. They are about 12" OAL, and was just on clearance at Petsmart for a buck.....Great for odds and ends in the tank especially the smaller brush end shaped like a triangle...Does corners great.
POwerhead for me to mix salt also, hang over side of container, plug it in and forget about it..cheap too.

The additional length of tubing on the blaster is so cool, I was wondering where I would find a 24" turkey baster (hate getting wet up to the pit) :hilarious
I just used a plastic spatula on the end of the aqua tongs to spread the sand around and iot worked great
