Galaxia Coral?

What can anyone tell me about caring for a Galaxia coral? My LFS had a gorgeous purple one when I was there the other day. It is oval shaped, about 3 inches by 4 inches. They had it sitting on the sand bed in a 180 or so gallon tank with 3 MH pendants over it. I have a 75 with 6x54 watts HO T5. THey were selling the coral for $50...

I have one myself. They need a lot of light(MH for sure) and you need to make sure you feed them. I think they desire a medium water flow. at night it extends all of its lil "arms" to try and reach out for food. pretty cool to watch under my moonlights.

Galaxea coral needs intense lighting and intense water flow. It is hardy and is very aggressive. You can place this coral at the top, the middle (away from everything) or at the bottom. This Coral has "sweeper" tentacles which stretch out and not only search for food but, sting any and all living things around it. Special care should be given with other corals within it vicinity. It is best to place this coral up top so that the "sweeping" tentacles dont have a chance to destroy other life within the tank.
