I know they are very challenging to keep them but I may consider them.
Anyone have any experiences with them?
also could I keep one (AND ONLY ONE) in a 30 gallon?

I'd say no to the 30 gal...first, you need a 7" sandbed, so that's likely close to half the height of your tank, secondly, you'll want to set up an alternating back and forth flow pattern (hard to do in a smaller setup), and finally, IF you can get them eating, they require a lot of food in the water column which is pretty hard on the water quality.
I've considered keeping a couple in a 60 gal, but I'm thinking even that may be too small to do it right, even if I design the tank around them. Besides, one or two specimens isn't NEARLY as impressive as a group of them.

You could keep a Golden Dwarf Moray (Gymnothorax melatremus) in a 30 gal...they grow to about 10" to a foot. They're a bit pricy (generally about $200, give or take), but are really cool fish.

I'm still here, dood. Life has been keeping me busy, but I still try to pop in. Thanks for the referrals...we're glad it's helping folks. It's actually on our list of things to update (our gallery has been updated recently), but both of us are writing new articles ATM...Fish Nutrition (Renee, of course) and Waspfish/stingfish care.

Dang it, now after reading this I REALLY wanna create a whole dedicated setup just for them. Lol.
We have a friend in Chicago who has been pretty successful with them...in fact, I recently hooked her up with a guy who needed to sell his off, and they were doing really well last I heard. She said the key is to get them eating...once you do that, the rest is easy.
