so in other words it's bad because i mixed up about 1-1/2lbs of shrimp, seaweed and 1 small piece of garlic and i just mixed it right up all together in the blinder with some tank water, i guess i didn't read close enough when you told me and got in a hurry, so should i through it away (my dad said it smelled good to eat haha) just thought i'd add that.
thanks,
kyle

Many people have used Garlic to help fish beat off a case of Ick. Any small pieces of Garlic will be eatin by something so as long as it is not a ton you should not see any negative effects by leaving it in the tank. I mix all of my food with minced Garlic and have never seen an increase in algae or a decrease in water quality. Now if you dump a bag full of garlic in your tank then you probably will have problems but the smell would probably signal that you probably don't need any more before you hurt anything else. I mix a whole tablespoon full of McKormicks minced garlic to one 1/2 cup of food and then freeze. This last me about 3 months.
