I was just wondering if garlic really works? I know that beth recommends its, but does it really work? I have use the minced garlic and kents garlic extreme and it does help some but I am not sure to what extent. My blue tang still shows signs of ich now and then but its much better. I have about 8 other fish in that tank and none of them have any signs of ich, and the blue tans been living with it for about 2 months. so, my question is: does the garlic do it or is it the fish its self fighting the ich?? and why don't the other fish get it? according to everything I read they all should become infested with it. thanks!!

Tangs are more likely to get ich because the don't have scales to protect them.Atleast that is what Ive read somewhere. The ich is feeding off the fish. The garlic in the fish's system is helping repel the parasites. Garlic supposedly is also an immunity booster which is also beneficial. Alot of fish die because of ich. Consider yourself lucky.

I do recommend garlic, but I never said it cured ich. It can help prevent ich and it is a good supplement for sick fish.
The best and most effective treatment for ich is hyposalinity.
