Gas bubbles?

Hi all! Im getting small gas bubbles in my sand bed and dont really know what they are. Im hoping they arent detrimental :scared: . When i stir the sand bed up, release the bubbles from underneath, they come back in just a few hours. I dont have undergravel filters or anything like that. Just regular sand (80 lbs), mixed w/ 10 lbs of ls from bout a few months ago. Any ideas on what they might?

Perfectly normal. Thats your sandbed releasing nitrates.

I think its pretty much the same thing. Sometimes bubbles get stuck on the underside of LR. Are these bubble on top of algae on the rock or just the rock itself?

I stir the bed to move any algae that has grown around. I only do it once or twice a week, only when i see an area that my sandsifting fish dont get to for a while. Would having a refugium help reduce the bubbles? I dont have one of those yet, but i am researching what i should need. Ill be posting on refugiums on these forums later

I doubt a fuge would stop the bubbles in the display tank. Its ok to have the bubbles. Its your sand bed doing its job. I agree, try not to stir the sand bed too much.

Drew and Jason,
My tank is 2 months old and the gas bubbles seem to be on the rock (topside) itself or the coraline. I don't have much algae except a small splotch on the LS and the back wall. I'm guessing those are dead spots, and I am chanigng out my 137 gph PH tomorrow for a 215 gph in a 14G BioCube.
