Gave up!

I finally gave up on my skimmer. I bought the dredded Seaclone when I first got into the hobby and at the moment I dont have the cash to invest in a new skimmer. I just ordered a cheap but rather effective filter, Penguin 350, to help with the extra filtering and go witht he other one I have. Now that Im not using the skimmer I was just wondering what would be the best way to keep the water quality up? How often to do water changes and how much? I basically got the filter to increase more flow and to break up surface aggitation. Any input on this subject would be greatlly appreciated. Tank is a 45 so I dont think Ill be in to much trouble without the skimmer. Your thoughts please.

you can get the Coralife Super Skimmer I have one and think it works well. The 65gal one should work fine for you and on a few websites its under 80bucks for it.
