HAHA...anyone ever seen I (Heart) Huckabees? "All he talks about is geckos..." Anyway...I was looking into getting maybe a tokay or leopard gecko. Does anyone have any experience with one of these...how cheap are they to maintain and do they smell bad...just wondering.

Tokay Is A True Gecko Which Means All Other Geckos Orginated From It, And They Are The Meanest Geckos You Can Get. They Will Draw Blood If They Bit You, Plus They Are Very Fast Little Guys.
Imo I Would Go Wtih The Leopard Gecko, A Whole Lot Nicer And Can Be Kept With Other Leopards As Long As They're The Same Size
Also Geckos Are Nocturnal So Dont Expect Them To Be Very Active In The Day, Matter Afact They're Not Even That Active At Night Too

So what kind of total cost would I be looking at for maybe 2 leopard geckos in the same tank, and how big would that need to be? What about the golden gecko, those look pretty awesome?

ive had both leopard geckos and golden geckos. there both awesome, but i think the golden gecko was the best because he was a lot more active. the leopard geckos just kind of sat under this wood i had for them and when i fed them crickets, they would just come out grab one and go back under there log. the golden gecko would climb on the glass and the top screen, and he would almost always be roaming the tank. i do rememer that the golden would bite occasionally, but there would be no blood, but he was only about 4 inches and i dont think they get much bigger then that. last year i was at my uncles house in florida and at night he would have geckos ( not anoles) running all over his house. they were about an inch long and they were white, black, and pink i wanted to catch one and keep it, but i wasnt going home yet, so i couldnt keep him in my car for another week. anyways, most geckos are pretty cool, and most dont need big tanks either. i would say like 30 gallons would be good. dont forget u need a heat lamp and a heat rock with some little plants and stuff too, which is like the price of like 1 saltwater fish :D

Yeah good point. I used to have a Burmese Python, but we had to give him to a nature center after he got about 5 feet long...oh well...better care then I could have given him.

a 20g long would be fine for 2 leopard geckos, but get a aquarium its cheaper than a terrarium and the price depends on how you want your tank to look like
a tokay can grow to about 16in

i kept 2 leopard geckos in a 20 gallon long tank and they had plenty of room. you should use a heat lamp either the bulb or the ceramic heater that doesnt emit light. from what i heard for the lfs and on a bb is you shouldnt use heat rocks for them. however you should use a under the tank heat pad that will only fit on one half of the tanks underside. you should keep the heat lamp and the heat pad on the same end of the tank so they will have a warm side and a cooler side. you will need calci sand and stuff for them to hide in. also a screen top. so about maybe $50 depends where you go. of course once you are all set up the upkeep is cheap. hope this has helped.
