geographic specific tank

Does anyone have a geographic specific tank? I.e. only life from the red see, only from Hawaii, only from the Australia etc. I have long wanted to do something of this nature, but think it would be difficult to find a good cross selection, such as fish, clean up crew, inverts, and corals. Etc. What do you guys think?
 :notsure:

I have always thought this would be fun to try, too. You can probably use diving guide books to figure out what corals, fish etc. are from where ever you're trying to imitate, and then go from there. It may take you longer to find all of what you want, but there is a lot of stuff from all over in other people tanks. Frag swaps are good places to get hard to find stuff. What size tank are you thinking of setting up? What area of the world are you interested in?

I had the same thought about the dive books. Only because I saw one at the book store while I was there on a completely unrelated topic. Anyway, I pick up a dive book of Indonesia about a month or so ago, but of course the tsunami hit and has made it hard to get anything form there, plus I do not want to tax the reefs anymore than they have already been, as they will need some time to recover. I was thinking about the Red Sea, but many fish from there are expensive and delicate, so it may be easier to do a domestic tank, like Florida or Hawaii. As for the size of the tank, that will depend on what I am going to keep, so time will tell. BTW, thanks for the input.
Has anyone else tried this idea?

I have a Caribbean tank. It is especially tough to stock, and it's only a ten gallon. I have been considering adding non-Caribbean stock but I can't decide.

Personally I think it is a great idea.
I remember seeing one in a book that was based ont he Sea of Cortez, and it was really cool. I had been diving there, and it did look just like it.

Do you have any pics of this, I would love to see it. I am starting to lean towards doing an Australian reef set up. I just got a dive book and like the look. Now I just need to start pricing what I want, and checking compatibility
