How can you get the anomonies off the rock when they grab on and you can't pull them off? Any sugestions?

I've heard of some folks using an ice cube and rubbing it on the base of the anemone. Some of the foot will detach, and then slide a finger under it and gently remove it. If you tear the base / foot of it it is a pretty tough thing for them to bounce back from. I have never done this but have heard of it being done in this way.

What about fresh water on them because they suck themselves into holes in the rocks and I can't even get to the base of them.

Are you talking about aiptaisa anemones (undesireable), or desireable anemones? If they are aiptaisa get a few peepermint shrimp. They eat 'em. Made short work of some I had on some rock.

the good anenomes (like sebaes or LTA's)....let them be, even if you move them, they will move wherever they please. this is important to keep them happy....and alive ;)
BUT......
if you are talking about apastia anenonmes, you can get the best results bu getting a .20 cent syringe and mixing some kalkwasser (or pickling lime) with water and injecting them. it wont hurt anything in the tank but the anenome. highly saline water can also work. Peppermint shrimps can also work, but only if they dont have other food to eat, and still ist sort of a hit or miss issue (IME, it appears some peppermints have not been told they are supposed to eat them) :)

I really don't like to show to much ignorance, But where do you buy a syringe?? I think I mispelled but I am serious, about getting one. Help if someone can help me.
Thanks

any drug store should have them. I get mine from Walgreens and they are .14 plus tax. you get them from the pharmacist, but you dont need a Rx

That is strange, don't you think?? Seems like it would not be lawful. I will ask for one tomorrow. I hope I don't get arrested !!!
Thanks for the info, and if I am not in jail, I will let you know

I always think the best way to get rid of aiptasia is the natural way. Like the peppermint shrimps or the nudibranch called berghia v. Because when you inject calk or hot water in them you will be doing this to the ones that you see. They will grow under the rocks like a ticking bomb. Later you cannot compete with them. Believe me they are fast.
Also calk will kill your corallines in time and your rocks will look awful.
I know I've been there.
Good luck.

shrimp - If they ask you why you want the syringe just tell them the truth. You "should" have a problem.

I've been wondering what these things are, and now that you've mentioned aiptaisa, I've looked it up, and I do have several small ones in my tank.
What are aiptaisa, and why are they a problem?
I did see one get into a fight with one of my little left-handed crabs.
Thanks in advance for your help.......Ray
