I already talked to ross about getting these types of corals. I have 45 watts over my 40 gallon. These corals need meduim lighting. I wanted to know what you think about this and if you have any promblems with these.
2- feather duster
1- bubble coral (white)
I have now:
1- anemone
2- peperement shrimp
Im adding a tomato clown and a damsle after they are done in the qt tank. Ill place them at the toop of the tank. I have the food for them and my tank is over 25 weeks old

i would have to agree also 45w normal out put lights really won't support much if anything. the feather duster will be alright because its a filter feeder.

The anemone is not see thought any more. It is fine now. I am getting some zoos and a bubble coral. If i add 20 more watts then will it be ok?

Just a note, feather dusters are not corals. It is a worm living inside the tube and does not require light.

ok..
I still want to get a few corals that dont need much light. Bubble corals dont require much lighting. thanks

45 watts on a 40 gallon is not considered medium lighting...its barely even low light. N/O lights are NOT for corals period.

thers no way that the anenome could be fine with only 40watts......or even get better at all....so can you post a pic of it now?

Looks fine. Its tube was about 3-4 inches wide last night. It is larger when the lights are off. Ill take a picture tonight. The tube is only 1-2'' now.

buddy the anenome is not doing well... soft corals are just gopnna die. 5 watts per gallon... 4.3 minimum. Dont drop $50 on a piece of coral if you do not have at least 160 Watts. You should really have 200 watts of lighting over that bad boy.
I have a 29 gallon with 150 watts over it and this cannot support an anenome very well.

Bot....Your wrong, I agree with what you are saying to lionfish his does not look good and should really get more light on the tank before trying corals. However 150W on a 29 is more than enough light for an anemoine minus a carpet. Not only that but with 130W on my 29 I have sucessfully kept and GROWN (RBTA, Xinia, Zoos, GSP's, a beautiful Green Hammer, As well as montipora caps, and digitata, with a good amount of growth every month. You have to remember that lighting is important but so is water conditions and water movement. I think alot of people have trouble keeping SPS under Pc's and VHO's simply because thier tanks are lacking on other areas.
Lionfish I've asked you several time about the water movement on your tank and you never answer me, maybe 14th times a charm. What are you useing for a filter and how many GPH do you have?

Ive got a cascade 200... Im not sure what its ghp is. I have a power sweep for the is on meduim in the middle of my tank. My anemone looks fine and looks 2x as good at night. Dunno y?
If i add anthor 20 watts then can i get the bubble coral? Maybe some zoos or polyps if they are placed at the top of the tank?
ps. Im getting a new cascade canister filter in a few weeks. My water is clean, very clean and you can tell by my pod population.

Seems no matter what information you are provided you intend to keep "a bubble coral" in your current lighting. Makes me wonder why you even ask if you have the proper conditions. This hobby isn't rocket science...there are lots of reliable resources to refer to...and most will advise that your lighting is not adaquate for many available corals. Research the coral you'd like to keep and see if your conditions are adaquate.
But then you keep an anenome so I guess anything is possible. Dispite the fact that most reference will indicate your lighting is not adaquate for the anenome.

Ross told me the lights are fine for a bubble tip and he said maybe some zoos. I do have a coral life bulb. Its the blue one. They use them in there tanks at the lfs and have corals that have been there for like 5 weeks and not been sold. They look fine. The clams are like $89 and no one wants to spend that much and that why they are there. Im going to try to get some 2- 40 watt tube bulbs.

lol...you don't have medium light.......i would add another 80-120w's and you would be all set....
NM Reef...he's not really keeping an anenome he's slowly killing one
seriosly though i am not trying to be mean.....this hobby takes a lot of research and i know you would enjoy it alot more with the right tank set up.... gph is gallons per hour....pumps have ratings on them for their gph
