Hey guys ! I'm getting the 3C for my 175, thanks to Chilwil and Frank the Tank
I was wondering if I can put the skimmer in the refugium, because I don't have a lot of room available. Worst come to worst, I can leave to outside but far from the refugium, with little space to work with. Which should be best -?

the main issue would be the pump sucking up the macro algae. other than that no problems (might kill some pods but thats minor) if you can direct the intake so its away from the algae and towards the source of water would be best. than point the exit of the skimmer towards the algae allowing it to polish the water clean. i have my frag tank in that situation and havent even had to take any alge out of the pump

Thanks, sounds good. And if I choose to leave it on the side of the sump, does it have to be setup higher than the sump-?

I just got read this from the Bermuda site
THIS SKIMMER CAN BE PLUMBED IN OR OUT OF SUMP
Out of sump installation: When using model 3C and up OUT OF SUMP, be sure to plumb the output of the skimmer horizontally back to the sump. It can not be plumbed upwards to go over the edge. If it is necessary, set the skimmer on a raised platform. The expansion valve should be at the lowest height when you turn on the skimmer pump. If your skimmer comes with a gate valve, be sure to have it open all the way, and adjust from that point. If you follow these instructions, you can plumb your skimmer outside the sump!

high enough to get that return pipe over the top of the sump/refugium. the tee comes out at a specific spot on the skimmer the part that turns and goes down doesnt come glued so so can put a longer piece on the end if it doent reach the water and starts splashing. did u order from the farmer?

you could also go through your sump if you wanted to drill it. this would help if you have height restrictions on boosting the skimmer

Maybe I'll setup a platform in the refugium on top of the mud and sand, then put the 3C on top of that and then the pump facing up with the sponge on it-? How tall is the 3C-?

Woot I hope you like It. I ordered mine today and it shipped out already. These are one of the most stable and reliable skimmers on the market. I ahve seen one at one friends house when I was out in california. And he said he hasnt adjusted it in 8 months. Built like a rock too.
