Does anyone with some experience trying to get a lawnmower blennie anything besides algea have any tips or info to get my blennie to eat prepared foods as my tank is just about clear of algea and my blennie is losing weight fast and is very thin right now. I have offered several different foods (nori, brine shrimp, blood worms, flakes) and he is not interested in any of it. Most of what I can find for info just has alot of people claim their blennie will eat anything never had a problem or they can't get them to eat at all.

I attach green algae sheets to rocks with rubber bands. To stimulate appetite many people will use the juice of a freshly cut clove of garlic on the algea sheet.

Lawnmowers are algae eaters. The only time I've ever seen one eat anything other then algae is when there is no algae. Try doing what the above poster said. Really that's your only hope. I've had mine for a year and when he started getting a little thin(well thinner then normal because he is super fat) I stopped cleaning the algae off the front of the tank and he started gaining weight and is still fat. Good luck.

Here is my suggestion. I have had one for 3 years and when the algae gets low I'll leave my light on for longer hours to help an algae bloom and I'll stop cleaning my glass for a few days. Usually in a few days hes back to normal. My other LMB ate Mysis shrimp and was very fat. I never clean off the glass on the back of my tank so there is always a little algae growing on it.

My Lawnmower did not eat any prepared food until I bought something called "Emerald Entree". It comes in frozen cubes, is very green but also includes mysis etc in the mix. Once he got a taste of that, he decided to try pretty much anything I put in the tank, he even bites at the turkey baster if I'm too slow!

My LMB eats anything, of course he really loves algae, so I make sure there is plenty of that around, he is now an omnivore
A fat little omnivore. :happyfish
