im going to get a small maroon clown tommorow i think.
I really like them, and am willing to take the risk. I can seperate it if it harms my other fish. im removing 2 fish from my tank and adding the maroon, and i want him to have an anemone. I have a small bubble tip, my oscelaris clowns have taken to my brain coral, and i want a maroon in a anemone. I also like the look of the long tentacle.
Will small maroon be compatable with a long tentacle?
When i get them, should i place them in a container together and see how they do.. to see if the maroon goes into it..then place them both in the tank?
whats the best way to go about doing this.
thanks

It is hit or miss with them not all clowns will take to the anemone, In my case my gold stripe marroon took to my long tip anemone, I used my own logic after reading other peoples experecence's i put the anemone in first for a week so it got adjusted and was eating then added the marron , and like i said i got lucky and the marron took to the anemone after 4 days

so does your maroon get along with your other fish? What else do you have?

My gold stripe maroon clown took to the bubbletip anemone I have in my tank. Didn't even take him 5 minutes...

I recommend a wild-caught maroon, not a tank-raised. They will readily jump into a long-tentacle or a bubble tip.

bubble tip anemones are the natural host anemone for maroon clowns. your clown should take to it very naturally. what kind of lights do you have to support your anemone? and also what are you feeding your bta now?
good luck

jon, got the maroon and another bubble tip, a medium sized one. It has squeezed its foot about 6 inches back into the rock and is pulling itself from the front of the tank under the rocks.
the maroon i added is hiding behind another rock as well. ah!!

I have one that used to hang out in a large Hammer. Never saw it feed the coral though.
Hammer is no longer. Clown still kicking.......:(

My maroon has taken up residence in the long tentecled (sp?) plate coral. We call it his "water bed". I got a pink tip anemone from BangGuy but since it's the size of a dime, I think it will be awhile before it will be useful to him.

My gold striped Moron...I mean, Maroon....didn't take to my long tipped anemone...he took to my Frogspawn, instead. He also is VERY territorial and chases other fish and shrimp away from his "space".
