getting more sand. to boost my sand depth.

more sand today. well my friend that is moving has broken down his largest tank and has a bunch of sand. I havent been able to buy enough sand to get my sand bed as deep as I want it. he is going to give me all his sand out of his tank as it would cost more to ship that it would to buy new. I am going over in an hour or two to get it. I am going to set up a tub to cycle it in. fortunatly it is warm out now so I dont have to do it in my living room I can do it out in my workshop so the girlfriend doesnt get aggrivated with me, I shoulod be able to boost my depth to 6+ inches. oh yeah!

I have been way low of true DBS depth. another reason that I want it so deep over the denitrification process is it is going to lift everything in my tank a few inches higher, and that will make my lighting a little more effective.

four five gallon buckets full of sand...... one word. HEAVY. probably about 80-90lbs each if I had to guess. fine sand too, its like a mix of oolitic, beach sand and carib sea aragonite sand. its going to make for one sweet DSB. For free!

any one want to do the math and figure out how much an equal mix of oolitic, beach grain ,and aragonite sand would cost? I dont but I'm glad I didnt have to pay for it.

Yeah, he is a good friend, isnt he? he could have charged me for it even half price would have been a steal or sold it to some one else, instead he gave it to me non-gratis. he also has a dual 250w mh with VHO's that he is going to work out a deal with me on. he also hooked me up with some awesome zoas today, I brought him a few zombie eyes that I got off bronco300. ONce the zoas Open I will take a picture of them.
I bring a couple of everything I have thats cool over to him or one of my other friends that way should my tank ever crash There is still a colony local to get frags off. and it keeps us all getting cool corals.
