GFO & Carbon reactor or pearl pellet reactor

Good morning,
Ok, 125g tank 2" live sand bed 115lbs dried bulk reef rock, 30g sump, Bubble Mag6 Skimmer ..one small false ocellaris clown, 1 purple dart, 1 dwarf coral beauty, 1 diamond gobby. Corals are the Sun coral, zoas, fungia disk coral, torch coral leather coral, cup coral, 6 head duncan coral. The tank is 6 months old I have a red algae coming on my rocks and some of the sand areas. Phospates read in the Hanna checker .35 and the Nitrates are .15. I have ordered an RO/DI unit but have been getting RO water from the local water mill. My question would a GFO & Carbon reactor benefit me or would the pellet reactors work(I'm looking at the Pearl biopellet reactor by Dr. Tim that says it removes nitrates and phosphates.). There is not much there to take out so I'm not sure if it would help my problem on the red algae stuff. I did a 20 gallon water change and it didn't even phase it.

Ordering an RO unit is a step in the right direction.
Next water change you have, stir up everything with a turkey baster or a small power head and siphon out as much junk as possible. You can put a micro mesh filter on the end of the siphon and do several passes to help clean your display. After the change and another stirring, I would change all of the mechanical filters. Your skimmer will go insane.
After a couple rounds of that, I would use a chemiclean red slime remover on the tank and do a 50% water change, cleaning more dead cells out of the tank and getting rid of all the muck and detritus accumulation.
No piece of equipment will completely eliminate the need for manual labor. However, with the development of carbon dosing through Biopellets, the nitrate and phosphate levels can be kept in check in the water column. I would recommend the Biopellets reactor in combination with a decent skimmer to maintain low levels of nitrate and phosphate according to your reefs biotope.

Ok thank you , I have just taking water out of my sump but your suggestion makes much more sense , as far as filter I have a filter sock on my sump I change about 2xs a week, the skimmer has a drain off into a bucket (ya) not sure if you approve of my skimmer ...I'm not sure of it. [@]
