I personally have had good luck with my ghost ribbon eel, and know several others that have them as well. My LFS gets them in on a regular basis, and they have had no trouble switching them over to frozen foods. They are not as picky as the blue ribbon eel.

I've kept my eel in a reef for almost a year now without any problems. He hasn't bothered any of the inverts, or fish. Although I've had other people tell me that their eels have eaten some fish, and shrimps. I think it's kind of a toss up as far as keeping them in a reef.

They're easy eels. They are pugnacious as hell, though. I have two in my semi-reef tank. I would say because they're fairly active, they can probably harm some corals. If you have corals, get really hardy ones.
I have to tong feed mine, because they just can't seem to find stuff on the substrate. Curious they did manage to find my clown and pearly jawfish with no trouble!
Just to be sure we're talking about the same eel, I'm posting a picture.
Sometimes blue ribbon eels are sold as ghost ribbon eels when they're in their black color phase.

I feed mine all kinds of frozen seafood. They like salmon, tuna (fresh, not canned), krill, swordfish, shrimp...you name it, they'll eat it.
