Ghost shrimp?

i used to feed ghost shrimp to my fuzzy dwarf lion every once in a while...
I have seen them live up to 24 hours in a saltwater tank.
That is not because they died from the saltwater, thats just how long it took my lionfish to pick them all off.

Some freshies can be converted permanently to freshwater. With each shipment we got in, the success rate of converting would be from 0-100%. Same acclimation, same source.... it was SO variable.
Then I started catching my own marine variety. But there are risks with the marine species such as isopods. Certain times of the year they would be heavily infested.

Nice hat Cranberry!! My LFS has started carrying salt water ghost shrimp sometimes, they're bigger and the same price! I put a bunch in my tank. The ones that didn't get eatten right away didn't wait for their turn. They would jump out through whatever hole they could find.

I have varied luck with them. I have two that have been in my 14G for a month now and are fine. One actually molted already. BUT, I started out with 5 and only 2 survived.

I stuck 10 ghost shrimp in my uncycled tank they've been in there for about a week. I just saw 5 of them, and they all look very healthy.
I've always found them to be very hardy. I've been told they are freshwater only, never experienced that. As a matter of fact I know they live in the Chesapeake Bay. I've been told they have to be fed and they won't eat detritus, I've never fed them and I've witnessed them eat detritus.

i tried them in SW. they lived a few days tops and was really sad watching them die slowly. i wouldn't try it again. gammarus shrimp are your best bet, the SW ones.

They've lived for over a year in a 55 gallon SW I had before I gave the tank away. I'm not sure why yours died so quickly, maybe it had something to do with your tank?
