I don't remember exactly where I read that article but I did, some people came to measure it but by the time they got there the fish was skinned and filet, and being feed to the village.

This is the largest catfish species in the world, only found in one specific river (Mekong River) in the world....in Thailand. They were able to measure and weigh the catfish, but couldnt save it because it was out of water too long. At that point they decided to eat the catfish...it fed a whole village.
The catish weighed in at 696lbs, and 9 feet long.

Ya they wanted to donate it to some scientist to study it but they weren't able to keep it alive long enough
