Glacier water

I have to drive 30 minutes to get RO/DI water and I tried a unit myself but I had so much waste water it was ridiculous (so a unit is not an option).
I noticed my local grocery store carries a Glacier water unit.
It says it does the following (I'm trying to remember all the steps for memory):
uses carbon initially
Reverse Osmosis
uv
finishes up with carbon
There were other steps if I recall correctly but it didn't say anything about the DeIonization.
I am curious if I can use this?
I would only be using it for adding top off water.
I also have a phos-ban reactor to take care of phosphates (will this help with algae bloom from that type of water).

ok, i'm curious... why is the waste water too much? no sink or sump to drain it into?
i don't know if glacier water would be good or not...

I bought a RO/DI unit and it was wasting quite a bit of water throughout the usage. The water was going down the drain in my sink but it wasn't worth the waste in my opinion. With our water bills being outrageous due to a recent increase I thought it would be cheaper to just buy the water periodically.
I also had been getting the top off water from a local spring that doesn't flow during the late fall and winter.

it's been a while since i paid for water (a couple years) but i don't remember it being expensive at all (it was mainly the sewage bill that was).
why dont you do something with the waste water? water your plants, wash dishes, etc? i just cant see driving to a store to buy water, especially if you already have the ro unit.
unfiltered spring water can't be good imo.

I don't have the unit anymore. Once I saw the amount of waste I returned it.

bkv.....Why not buy some of the Glacier and check it...S.G, TDS (if you have a meter or can have it tested by LFS), copper, ammonia, nitrites/trates. The DI is certainly great for removing silicates/phophates but if the glacier tests OK it is certainly better than 'tap' water if you are not going back to RO/DI unit.

i have a fowlr tank and bought a ge smart whole house filter with the carbon cartridge.it filters out all the rates in the water

I live in southern california and they sell water outside of stores, I call it the penguin water because it has a penguin on the machine. It is what I'm going to use in my tank. It has all of the steps needed and it is pretty cheap, $.25 a gallon

Your extra money being spent on glacier water and the gas to drive to the store is going to be the same as the cost of your waste water (IMO), Do what renogaw said use your waste water for somthing, Mine goes into my koi pond.
