Glass hood needed for compact lighting??

When looking into compact flourescent lighting or T-5 lighting, it states that you need an all glass hood... I would think this would produce too much heat... Does anyone have the coralife 4x65 watt fixture, if so, how did u set it up????

265w Orbit, and I took the glass tops off my 72g bowfront....I dont use em.

How high above the tank did you mount the lights???

They come with stands for each end...

Is there a standerd height with each stand, or can u adjust them??
Also, how often do u have to clean off your lights?? do u just use water??

Ya, they are standard height, not adjustable.
I clean off the acrylic shield like once every few weeks. Ya, I just use water or vinegar with a wet paper towel, then rinse it off real well and dry it.

Thanx for your help, by the way have u heard anything about T-5 lighting?????
