What kind of gloves are recommended for use in a tank. I'm planning on putting some new zoos in the tank, and want to place them right; but I don't want what they have to offer, and I'm sure they don't want what may be on my skin.

Non-powdered is the only rule...I use the blue medical gloves, some just get latex doctor gloves, you can use the gloves that come in hair die (they sell them at the dollar store here)...as long as they are powder free
you can use them...if you are not sure if they are powder free, don't chance it, because it can kill everything in the tank..

Nice thing about having a spouse in the medical profession. Purple Nitrile gloves......powder free, thicker than latex, and they have a little bit of a "grip" on the fingertips. The blue Chemo gloves are even better (ain't NOTHIN gettin' through those!) but they're sort of overkill for what we need.

I have been looking into some longer shoulder length gloves. I always have to use a rubber band to cinch my wrist with the regular size so water does not leak in. I think I have read on here that the ones they use for horses work.

Just don't ask WHY they use those gloves with horses!

Seriously, most of the big online aquarium stores sell long-length rubber gloves for the aquarium market. You'll find 'em with a quick google search.

Oh, I know what they use them for. LOL There was a very colorful explanation in the description area online.

I will have to check out the big online aquarium stores and see how they compare. I think for a box of 100 of the horse gloves they wanted around $20.00 including shipping. I would imagine that if they are made to go where they go for a horse that they (they gloves) should be fine for our tanks. Right?

I have the gloves that are used on horses.... or cows..... and they leak !! I always come out of the tank with wet arms and a ton of water that I have to dump back into the tank!!! They are not snug on your fingers either, kind of clumsy. I got about 70 of them left!! Coralife makes arm length gloves.... I'm going to try those when my box runs out. ( I wouldn't want to be working on the horse with the way these gloves leak!!! ewwwww!)

I am going to hold off on ordering them then. I have an aunt that is a vet tech and she said she can get me all types of gloves to try that should be safe to use.
Thanks for chiming in before I spent the money. Having leaking gloves would have had me all PO'ed.

I got the blue ones at the grocery store in the pharmacy section. They work great, and definitely don't tear. Rubberbands are needed to keep hands dry.
