For my 1000th post I' thought I'd post something kinda interesting.
Glowing fish like these fluorescent zebra fish represent the vanguard in the brave new world of genetically engineered pets being sold across the United States. Marketed under such names as "Night Light Fish" and selling for up to $30 apiece, they gleam like inch-long neon signs, thanks to DNA transferred from sea coral and jellyfish. (Chicago Tribune)

congrats on the 1000....
speaking of glowing fish... they're outlawed in california. i wonder if that includes buying them from another state and shipping them into california.

$30 for a danio!! That's nuts. I read an article on them in a fish mag a few months ago. Interesting but too expensive for a guppy.

now if they could do that with a chiclid that would be cool, and if they breed do you think the offspring would glow too? sence they DID changge their DNA, it could be passed on through offspring.
THEN it would be worth it, way worth it!

I don't think people should be altering nature that way. The fish that we have now are beautiful and natural and that is the way that I like them.

All the glowing fish are sterile so they can't produce offspring. Good job on making the 1000mark

I agree 100%
they are cool looking, but still, I dont think I'd ever ever buy them.
There is something wrong with altering a living thing to the point where it cant even reproduce any more...
