Not trying to pick on them too much, but they repaid 8 billion of the, what, 61.5 billion they were "loaned", "gifted"? Not sure they should be patting themselves on the back too hard.

Correct, the current plant in Detriot produces the Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne. Both models will be phased out, and the plant will begin producing the new electric-powered Chevrolet Volt, which will require more jobs.
But is part of the new movement with GM, all of their Mexican facilitates will be moved back State-side, starting with the Silverado/big SUVs.

Part of bankruptcy/debt consolidation. What you originally borrowed and owe back, and what you actually end up paying back, are two different things. The current plan is to eventually pay back the $41.5bil that was lifted in the form of public stock, probably just after GM announces it's finally made a profit next quarter.
Though, if the US just had given GM several billion dollars every year, like Japan does to it's top earners (cough the big Japanese 3 auto manufactures), this whole mess would have been averted

At the end of the Bankruptcy the government gave GM a 16 billion dollar line of credit. THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE USING TO PAY BACK THE GOVERNMENT. What a crock.

So who is less believable a car salesman or a politician? How about politically appointed car salesman... And we are surprised they try and pull this kind of crap.
