He is a Tiger goby which is making a mess out of my tank. Meaning when he sifts the sand it clouds the tank.

Yeah that is sandsifting type of gobie. I have heard that they are bad for the sand bed becuase they will eat beneficial critters living in it.

And they also make the DSB a shallow sand bed in areas. Not a good idea if your having the bed for nitrate removal.

YEah they are bad as well as most crabs and shrimp because they are especially hard on the beneficial worm on pod populations, and they also do just as wamp said thin the dsb into a ssb, effectively disrupting the waste processing on the whole dsb!

I thought that my Golden Headed Sleeper Goby was a good thing in My sand bed. He keeps it cultavated and cleans out a lot of junk. He also digs and creates hiding places for all of my fish. Just my thoughts though.

Now the problem as with any fish removal. Anyone have any idea how to get him out without removing all of my lr.

You can buy a fish trap from your lfs or make your own! All of my fish have been acclimatized to feed out of a modified feeding station, But bottom dwellers need to be tricked as they rarely come off the bottom to feed!

Can you give me some sort of idea how I might make a trap for it. This fish is driving me nuts. I just get near the tank and it zips in the rock. My entire tank looks like crap thanks to him.

Why does the tank look like "crap"? I agree that a goby is not compatible with a DSB, if that is your main source of filtration, but they don't usually make the tank look like crap. How long have you had him? The chances of getting a goby to vacate his tunnels and go into a trap is not very good. How deep is your DSB?

Beth, I have a 4-5 inch DSB and the tank looks like one big dust cloud from him filtering the sand. I can hardly see the coral in the back of my tank. Getting really frustrated.
