I have a 120 gallon tank 48x24x24 with a 29 gallon sump. I just use powerheads in the tank and an ASM G2 skimmer in the sump. Do I need any more filtration? I was thinking of a Rena Canister. I'm probably going to add 100 lbs of LS and 100 lbs of LR. This is what I want to keep:
Clown Trigger
Harlequin Tusk
Porcupine puffer
maybe a lion
Suggestions please

I wouldn't bother with a canister. If you need to run carbon just put the bag into the sump - I put mine where water flows from one chamber to another. Just make sure you have plenty of flow with the power-heads and return from the sump.

yea, i would listen to Dmitri, IMO the only purpose for the canister filter, considering what you already have, would be to run carbon or something. If you want to do that..... run a filter sock at the input line going into the sump with some carbon in it OR just wedge some bags between the baffles in the sump
Had the same setup with my 75 FOWLR, and may end up doing the same with the 120reef. The only diff is that now im utilizing a sump/refuge with a skimmer
