Right now i have just a 30 gallon tank but i am thinking about going to a 75 and had some questions regarding sumps and wet/dry. I was thinking about using my 30 gallon as my sump was not sure if that would work. Also is a wet/dry needed?

I agree, I would keep the 30 as a QT. Then you could get a 20 or 30 long to use as a sump/fuge. The longer tanks are better for fuges than taller tanks. More room for equipment and such. Also most in sump skimmers operate in 6 -10" of water so deep water in a short sump doesnt really do ya much good.

That is kind of what I did when I bought my 125. (BTW I bought it used) I used my old 55 as a sump. You can kind of see it on this thread in the last picture. https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/172389/how-i-moved-my-tank I also have a picture of how to install the pump if you go this way, but not on this computer. Bascially you plumb it in so that the intake of the pump goes up and over the side of your sump and into your pump. Once you prime the pump there is not problems with it running.
