Going on vacation in 2 weeks. I know my fish could survive without food for the week, but what do i do with my banded shark. Can he last without food for that long? If not what do i do?

I would really recommend that you have a friend or pay someone to take care of your tank when you are gone. Too much can go wrong when your away and is it worth it to take a chance with something you have put so much time and energy in to? I myself am leaving for vacation today for 2 weeks and have a babysister and lists that go on and on and on. Call me parinoid, but they are my BABIES!!!!! :D

If you live close to where I live, I'll be glad to take care of your tank for free

;) Why don't you get an automatic feeder or have an entrusted friend do it for you. Since most feeders aren't that expensive I would look into it. I have one and trust me it was worth it! I even got mine cheaper because I asked my lfs if he had any he wanted to part with. I got one with duel feedings for as little as $10. They just sit on the top of your tank and rotate to dispense the food. I don't know how much you feed a shark but if it isn't too large I would look into a feeder. They come in handy even if your only going to be away for a weekend! Good luck!

Since most friends or neighbors haven't had fish before, you might want to tell them exactly what to do on what day. I usually use those medicine containers with the label for each day. I also put out a bucket of water ready for top up.

If you can't find a friend who can do this, see if your LFS can do it, or, I'm sure they know someone who can. Course, you'll have to pay. But communities have people who are in business doing tank maintenance, which, might be your best options to safeguard your animals as well as your investment.
