Goldish Brown Algae On The Sand..how Do I Get Rid Of It?

I wanted to think this was diatoms but not sure. It is a very bold goldish color algae and it is taking over my sandbed. The only difference I have made truly is that I have changed to stronger lighting. I have a cleaner crew but they don't seem to go to it at all. I have no other algae issues at all..does not seem to hurt the tank but I can't seem to get rid of it. My tank is 3 months old..I have had a few diatoms at the beginning but this seems like a much bolder richer gold color...can anyone help? I use ro/di salt water from the lfs for water changes....parameters are great.....all are healthy just would like to see the white of the sand again. I don't want one of those cucumber things, don't want to risk what I hear about them trashing the tank and making it toxic. suggestions please!

Old diotom casings. Do you use RO/DI water? Oops, I see you do. It is just part of a cycle, IME. It will go away at some point.
