WOW I am surprised the guy did not throw in the Brooklyn Bridge. If you can swing COD go for it but IMO the seller will want payment up front. I say buyer beware

I would definately not pay until merchandise is seen & proves to work. Now I just got to decide if I want to fork over the money for a second tank.

I personally don’t think you will ever get to this point if you decide to go through with the deal

I order 90% of my stuff online...livestock, supplies, equipment....I have never purchased anything that I paid for AFTER I got it....Use a safe payment type (like Paypal) they supposedly help you out if you have an issue with merchandise

Im sure he or she is not talking about a verifiable retailer but more an individual. Also the economy is SUPPOSEDLY getting better

Paypal will pay you some or all of your money if you do not get what you are purchasing. If I were you though I would have the person set up some type of auction on that really big bid site so that way you have their backing as well. I think if you could set that up with a Buy It Now, then buy it as soon as its listed you would have enough security to get the money back you deserve if its not true. I have had to make a claim on paypal before, I recooped all but 25$ of my payment (paypals fee). Paypal did say if they were able to recoop that money from the seller they would send it my way, however that still has not happened.

Well, I asked the lfs guy (who also happens to be a friend) what he thought of it. Apparently he's selling his 125g tank for around the same price. He has another tank that is a MONSTER in his living room that he's keeping. Now this is a tank that I've seen up and running, so I would be much more comfortable buying it - plus it's bigger!!
And he can deliver.
Now to go figure out what I want to put in it.
On another note, with Craigslist I usually deal in cash. I've bought a few things and sold some things. I've always dealt with an individual and picked the item up from their house (with someone with me). Only once did I ask for someone to ship something since they were an hour away, and in that instance I did pay with paypal. There's a limit to the insurance on the purchase. I just don't remember what it is.
