when i got my new 55 gal tank for my bday two years ago i wanted to do something out of the ordinary, so i thought hmmmmm, ill do a salt water tank that would be cool! I read and read asked and asked got different opinions on what worked and wahat didnt. one store i went to said no bottom filter was needed, one said live rock was all i needed ...so after much worrying and debating i felt confidant with my fish dealer to take his advice .set up tank added LR 50 lbs worth my wife thought i was crazy!!! some starter fih to cycle the tank and i was on my way, didnt know how to use gravity device didnt have enough light had too much hair algea killed expensive fish now that its been two years no fish have died have some soince day one very reluctant to channge my water but i do not by correct standards ,,but now im here and with the pics and comments from all of you I TOO can become more knowledgable and helpful to others .. thanx

Welcome to the boards! You should take the fish back. The die off from the rocks will be enough to cycle the tank. What equipment do you have in the tank? How did you mix the water if you do not know how to test the salinity?
