good or bad decision tank addition

I just got a Sand Sifting Starfish I have read that they really destroy the sand bed is this true or anyone have one that they like?

they are very good scavengers, depending on the species some of them can grow quite large, and become predatory to small fish and inverts

For what its worth, I've heard on this board that they are a bad idea because they eventually starve to death after they deplete the "food" from the sandbed. I have never had one so can't discuss personal experience.

+1. The "food" that they eat is also beneficial to the tank.

i made the mistake of getting one w/out much research myself. I have had success with frozen muscles actually. I place about 1/4 of the thawd cube in the sand bed next to a foot and he eventually moves over it. Im not sure about nutritional value for him but we'll see in a year or so.
