in a reef tank. I am having a ich problem and was told this can help before ich gets on the fish. But i am worried that it will hurt stuff that my corals need. I was told to just turn it off when feeding them phytoplankton? Can you guys who have them give me some feed back. Thanks

It will kill what your coral needs. You can simply shut the unit off when you feed phyto, but you will destroy anything that is free swimming when the UV is on. Perhaps a better option would be to remove the fish to another tank and let the ich run its course in the display. After 4-6 weeks you can reintroduce the fish. You can treat the fish in the hospital tank with Cu without harming the display.

Ich, lives on the fish not in the water and uv has little effect on this problem...I would suggest looking into temp swings to start with, that is the main cause of ich..also try to feed with Garlic additive to fish, it seemed to help my tang, which are ich mags, and he hasn't had it since,...also added chiller have .5 degree temp swings, in 24 hr. period..Corals and fish love it, you can see the diffrence.
