...been away for a few days. Everybody needs a little rest & relaxation now and then.
Thought I'd start a current pic thread...ya'all feel free to drop in a current shot of your own. I'm going to clean up numerous files of pics from my archives and anything decent I'll save and post.
First one I found worth sharing is a picture of my nearly 2 yr old hippo...my nephew took this photo on one of his visits to the house and e-mailed it to me.

This is one of my favorites. We have had him for 3 or 4 months now. He is the soul survivor of a nasty bout with ick.

promisetbg...welcome to our forums. Yup...he has been a healthy speciman.Origionally about 3" and now closer to 5"-6".
flipper263...definitely looks healthy...no signs of ick? Very nice pic too!
I found a little sequence going left to right of my display. These were taken in early May and shows the 3 month progress from just water to developing reef.

My photography skills aren't the best ... but I like sharing photos of my lil reef...and I like looking at examples of what ya'all see...over the past three years I've sort of merged the two hobbies of photography & reefkeeping. I think they go hand in hand...this is a great site to gain and/or share information & experince. Plus its a nice place to share pics of our endeavors. So while I dig in the archives and sort thru old pics feel free to post up shots of your stuff...kind of like a BYOP(bring your own pics) party instead of the usual "6-pak".

NM Reef, Perhaps you can explain what my tang sees in these tongs.....look at the difference in color...he does this every time the tongs are in the tank...swims right up to them and leans on them...like he is in love???? (I posted the question before but no one seems to know what he is up to)

The ick episode was about 2 months ago..lost most of my fish...an expensive lesson on quarantining...lesson learned!

maybe the tang thinks the tongs are some massive predator fish, and hes just giving a sacrfice?

Lots of species have a color change when scared/aggressive/sleeping....lots of times a color change is to warn potential predators or to hide from danger...my foxface can radically change whenever he feels the need. Possibly your tang is simply reacting to the tongs out of fear?
Very nice pic...someday I'll try to get a pic of my foxface while sleeping...he looks very different sleeping than he does when hes active.

The thing that has me confused about it is that he swims right up to it and goes chocolate brown. He never swims away from it and doesn't seem to flare up or be stressed in any way. I thought maybe it was a mating thing. I read the other day about a type of fish (I don't recall the fish) that changes to a deeper color when 'courting' MAybe Tango is in love
