I am new to the hobby and am looking for advice on a good skimmer for my 125g. I do not have a sump yet i just have a xp3 cannister, 2 emperor 400's and 2 ph's. i do plan on getting a sump in the near future so i would like to get a good skimmer that can be used as an external or in sump. Thank you

I very much depends what your budget is like.
EuroReef, AquaC, Aquamedic are great skimmers but other brands do job wel too. Check rewievs on Wetwebmedia.com they have many articles regarding skimmers posted. If you are on tight budget concider getting a used one. I'm selling a AquaC UrchinPro rated for 75+ gals and good for 125 tank. Email me dzekunoi@hotmail.com if interested, it's a good skimmer FMO.

I'm very impressed with the skimmers Reefmania produces. They are high end, but well work it. They are quite efficient and produce A LOT of skimmate.
They are based close also, in MN.

I love my aquamedic turboflotor 1000, but it will not work as a hang on the back..the turboflotor multi will however.. I much prefer the sump one though due to the fact that the water goes directly to my skimmer from my overflow, and I do not have to pump it through my skimmer.. Most of the organics that you want to remove, are on the surface of the water, not 3 or 4 inches below the surface , where any hang on the back skimmer draws it's water from.. so directly from the overflow seems to me to get more of the goodies to the skimmer..just my .02cents..
