Saturday morning the wife and I had to travel to Lubbock and naturally we stopped at my favorite LFS before heading home. My friends there have set up a excellant clam display and I found a sweet little ORA raised golden maxima that I could not resist. I tried to get a few pics of the little 2" clam but sadly they didn't turn out ... but for now I can share pics of my squamosa(6") and my derasa(5")...eventually I'll get a presentable shot of the golden maxima....but sometimes clam pics are hard to get.
Here is the derasa...

...and here is my squamosa...this guy was purchased about 15 months ago and was only 2"-3" when I got him...since placing it under the new MH's the coloration has become much better...previously it was under 4x65 10K PC's & 2x110 actinic VHO's...now the lighting is 2x400 10K MH's & 2x110 actinic VHO's...In time I hope to add one more clam ... another maxima...probably blue ... to go along with the squamosa/derasa/golden maxima....one of the motivations behind building the new system was the desire to keep a few more clams...

The rest of the pics I have are assorted looks at some of the corals I've transferred from the old 55...first up is my orange colored rics...its hard to tell from the pic but there is a small baby at the top and its starting to look like both the large ones are getting ready to split. Not a great detail look...but its somewhat presentable.

The only new fish additions have been a mated pair of perculas...here is one of the happy couple...the other didn't make it to the photo session...

Is that Xenia really got a yellow tint to it?Or,is that from the flash? Is so,I have never seen a color like that on Xenia.

Thanks diddly...yup...I agree...I like my clams too!
The candy cane does have a blueish tint....especially in the center...the one next to it is sort of aqua marine/turquoise colored....both have changed coloration a bit under the MH's.....

chinnyr...they only colony of xenia I've ever kept was lost several months ago...what you saw in the pic above is actually a colony of clove polyps...and yes they do have a very distinctive yellow coloration...the main polyp is a cream color with yellow highlights.

Thanks!I guess if I took more time looking at it,I could have seen the base to the left of the colony for better id.I counld never keep cloves alive in my system for some reason:thinking: .Too bad you don't live closer because I have loads of Xenia.

diddley...on the candy cane the color was much more reddish previously...sort of pinkish/reddish...they've recently become a bit blueish tinted in the center...I don't know why but I'm definitely liking it!
chinyr...The cloves I keep were purchased as a small colony in the old 55 and they quickly expanded and became a very large colony. I've since fragged them several times. I currently have three small colonies in the new display and they have adjusted real well. I have a few local sources for xenia but I don't believe I'll be adding any....I'm trying to save some space for some SPS type corals and would much rather add them than xenia at this point.

Looking good NM! What lighting do you have on the tank now?
Heres a "Blue Moment" from my tank.
Trying to get this bit of encrusting blue sponge to grow. Not easy.

This little guy pestered my leather so much that he killed it.
Now the giant rics are home.
