Just curious to know if this is good for a reef tank....
ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 10
ph - 8.2
sg - 1.025
calcium - 410
kh - 8.6
phosphate - 0.03
alk - 3.09
mg - 1350
Thanks for any replies. I finally got the calcium over 400. Trying to hit 420-430 and keep it there.

Same here. Been using it for about 2 weeks. Took that long to get the Ca from 360-410.

Your CA and Alk are low...look into a two part additive{A&B} I use Ocean's Blend.
CA should be 430-450
Alk should be 4.00
Purple Up is not enough .

Im in nassau. I would love to trade but i just started stocking coral a few weeks ago. So i dont have much. Just some shrooms, yellow polyps and button polyps. I might be interested in buying frags from you though.

Well im not using the Purple Up to specifically to raise Ca. I wanted to try it cuz i heard it works great at spreading coralline. I am actually looking into a 2 part additive to stabilize Ca and Alk. Ill look into ocean's blend. Thanks.

To get my calcium levels higher I have used Seachems Reef Advantage Calcium. I do it a bit different than is listed on the label however. I divide what is to be added on a weekly scedule, into 7 equal amounts and add it daily, unitil I get the Ca to where it needs to be.....By dividing it up into equal doses daily you can get dead on the target your aiming for in smaller steps and not overshoot the mark, and with it being smaller does at a time its not as much of a change for ther inhabitants to go through. I dissolve the called for amount into say 1.75 cups of RODI water, and each day I add 1/4 cup or 60 cc of the mix to the tank........1/4 cup x 7 days = 1.75 cups and 60cc is a hair higher than 1/4cup (actually 59.147cc) and not enough to make a difference....

Why even pay attention to Alk when the dKH is proportional to what the Alk is.......its just one more number to have to deal with that is really the same thing in a different term. Fopr example a dKH or 11.8 is the same thing as an Alk of 4.23, so if you have a known dkh the alk is going to follow, is it not? Of all the locals here as well as the lfs, not one even fools with knowing or finding out alk numbers, and mainly go for the dkh..........

Very true. Just posted it cuz Salifert kh test gives both on the chart. If i raise my kh then my ca is going to lower right?

Ever try Turbo Calcium or Super dKh buffer? Both are Kent Marine products and quite nice. Also even with many corals in a system sometimes water changes with newly mixed synthetic sea water will keep your levels up!

my reef/ seahorse tank is in it's infancy, I have a jawfish snail, and hermits, getting caulerpa and zoos on wednsday. I don't have any pics, and I know I don't really speak from experience, but I still think most of my stuff is accurate. I am planning on getting a camera for x-mas, maybe by ten it will look good! LOL
oh yeah, I have a 6 inch DSB, 35 pounds of LR, a 37 gallon tank, a soon to be either refugium , or live food hatchery, I have 1 dual 65 watt actinic, and one dual 65 watt daylight, my trates, last time I checked are at 20-40, and am trying to get them down, but I think it was that i went through such a massive cycle
