Gorgonian help!!!!!!

I just get my red gorgonian in the mail today. He is black looking and not red at all. Does this usually happen during shipping?

I got one ine mail a couple days ago, it was red. I don't know if black is normal.

now it is a purple color, maybe he is turning back to red.

there is also this wax looking coating on him that is peeling off.
