Gorilla Crab ??

Finally caught this guy. Came in on Sun Coral a while back and was about the size of a small pea then. Is it a gorilla crab?

Prob not a gorilla but looks to be of the Xanthidae family. My rule is when in doubt pull it out. Most crabs are not intended to be reef safe with snails and smaller inverts. The dark pointy claws are also an indication that it could be a foe more than a friend.

Kept close watch on it since I first saw it. Never ever seemed to hurt anything but was starting to get big and didn't want to take the chance.

I agree with PD i usually just throw them in the sump though , this way they CAN'T hurt anything
