Thanks Mr. Tang. Well, I'm actually considering not setting it up yet. I'm moving to an upstairs apartment in 2 months. I will either, not set it up yet (until the move), or, set it up with LR, etc. -- then my two little yellow-tail damsels, run it for the two months, but then... geez the moving! The plus side would be that getting the damsels out of the 20 gal will help reduce the bioload for the Tang, et. al. until I can get it all cycled and moved.

Hello,
If you get some Nature's Ocean packaged live sand you can start adding a fish or two without any worry of a cycle. I have done this 4 times now and never had a cycle to endure! The sands comes with enough bacteria in a special patented process to eliminate a cycle. You still need to go slow in adding more fish or when adding Angels or Tangs as the tank still needs to age or mature. Try it you will be pleased.

Where do I get this Nature's Ocean Live Sand and how much does it cost? How much will I need on start-up on a 50 gal. tank? Again, thank you all so much!

any live sand will do, depending on where you are, the sand may cost $0 for 20 lbs, but that could be more or less, as for the jaubert system, i would use a dsb, it is just as effective, and alot less ork to replace and to set up, just build a 4" sand bed, and seed it with a bag or 2 of live sand, that eaasy, as for the cycle time, it can take months and months, but generally only a couple of weeks, if you use ls(live sand), it may only take days, but this is all depending on your system, just be prepared, it could take up to 2 months, the best thing to do, IS DO NOT HURRY IT, let it ride and it will go faster, doing water changes and adding things to bring down teh ammonia will only set it back instead of letting it run through, some lfs's will have you do things to bring it down, DON"T, but i don't see it taking months and months(however if you want to let it, and wait that long, you are better off than the rest of us, being that you will not over wait, this cannot be done, nad never let anyone hurry you when you want to wait, only in diseases should you hurry)

Hello,
The live sand from NATURE'S OCEAN is available here at several pet stores and it on-line at this site. To find it click on the live rock link and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
I used about a pound per gal and never had a cycle in the 4 tanks. In all cases I only had a fish or two in each tank for the first few weeks.
IMHO this is the best product I have seen in years as it works if used as directed and no need to waste fish or time trying to cycle a tank.
