Got my Dwarf Lion!

Well, got my Dwarf Lion today. Intended to get a Fuzzy, but the store had a tank full of Volitans and Mombasas. A Volitan is too large to my tank (72), so I got the Mombasa. They were already eating frozen at the store, so hopefully it'll be a smooth transition. He's acclimating right now; will get pix as soon as he's in the tank and coming out! Very excited! :joy: I know they're not quite as hardy as the Fuzzys, but anybody heard any horror stories about keeping them??

Well, he's doing great! Was swimming around all night, looking around. Today he ate some prongs soaked in garlic. Everyone is more or less staying out of his way! Except last night when I first put him in my two Skunk Shrimp started cleaning him. He let them for a few minutes and then shook them off. Now he just hangs on the rock, upside down, staring at them. He's probably thinking "food." Though I hope not.

Very nice indeed. Love the colors. My fuzzy hangs out now alot by my large mushroom rock where he hides in wait in the shadows. Ha!

Very nice .......... Feed a variety of foods soaked in vitamins, I am so glad to hear it was eating frozen foods already , many LFS like to just drop goldfish or guppies in....
Here is what I would watch for on this lion.....> "they are particularly intolerant of poor water quality. These fish are often the first fish to succumb to bacterial infections that effects their eyes (resulting in a cloudy-eyed appearance) as water quality declines."
The Lion info sheet is here......> http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/20...ture/index.php
Good Luck!!!

Dmitry, make sure you provide this lionfish with the best water quality you can. I just lost my fuzzy dwarf lionfish today due to a bacterial problem. They are not as hardy as some say in my opinion and need good water quality and a fair size tank.
Good luck and enjoy....
